INTRODUCING FPDS v7.1.66 (7/14/2020)

We've made significant changes and additions to the protocols in Fire v7.1.66 (7/14/2020) to guide emergency dispatchers to collect even more accurate information—information to help send more appropriate resources and to help responders locate incidents more quickly. Changes have also been made to provide callers with more appropriate instructions.

  • Vehicle fires in Parking Garages have been moved to Protocol 69: Structure Fire to be more in line with federal and industry recommendations.
  • Protocol 71: Vehicle Fire has been expanded to address multiple vehicles on fire and their unique threat level.
  • Protocol 69: Structure Fire Determinant Codes and the building type list have been amended to include Mixed-Use Occupancy buildings. This building type includes both commercial and residential occupancy and can present a significant combination of fire suppression and rescue problems when on fire.
  • Protocol T (tourniquet application instructions) has been added to bleeding control instructions.

IMPLEMENTATION OF FPDS v7.1.66 RELEASE:

  1. Request the IAED® Release Letter and Update Guide.
  2. Download the EFD 7.1 Fire Administration Definitions and Authorization Document (within the Response Codes Folder).
  3. Take the Fire v7.1 course on the College for 2 hours of CDE Credit.

Be sure to log in to the College and take the FPDS v7.1 Update Tutorial. You'll be an expert on this new version, and earn 2 credits of CDE as well!

MPDS v13.3.128 (6/25/2020) UPDATE

  • A new COVID-19 symptom "Recent change or loss of taste/smell" has been added on Protocol 36 and in the EIDS Tool.
  • "Head stuck (arms & body out)" has been added to the BREECH Delivery pathway list on Panel F-20.
  • The Stroke Diagnostic now displays both the answer selections and the score of the selected answers.
  • A new Protocol 19 Sub-Chief Complaint “Heart rate reported (per device)” has been added on Case Entry.

PPDS 6.2.105 (6/29/2020) UPDATE

  • Added new Case Exit Panels X-6 "Control Bleeding" and X-7 "Burn Treatment" with corresponding DLS Links on several Chief Complaint Protocols.
  • “What’s the exact location of the vehicle now?” Key Question added for when a bomb or suspicious package is reported inside a vehicle.
  • Globally, the Key Question “Are you or anyone else in danger right now?” will no longer be asked if the suspect/person has left the area or is detained and cooperative.
  • Added a new Key Question sequence for a WANTED person who is self-reporting on Protocol 129.

We remain committed to the continual evolution of each of our protocol disciplines and our software in order to best support your emergency dispatchers and responders as they serve your community.

Thanks again for your tireless work on the front lines, whether in the current crisis of COVID-19 or in your everyday service of maintaining safety and harmony for your residents. We applaud all that you do.
