Charlotte, NC, USA – Last month, OnStar was recognized by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch® (IAED™) for achieving its fifth consecutive Medical Accreditation as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE). This landmark accomplishment marks their fifteenth anniversary of becoming ACE, an achievement that takes a significant amount of hard work.

The ACE recertification process involves meeting a rigorous set of 20 Points of Accreditation, including strong local oversight, rigorous quality processes, and a commitment to data-driven continuous improvement. Accreditation lasts for a period of three years, during which time all standards must be upheld.

Becoming an ACE-certified agency in a single discipline—whether police, fire, or medical dispatch—is a significant accomplishment. However, achieving triple accreditation in all three disciplines, known as Tri-ACE, is truly a remarkable feat that reflects unparalleled dedication, expertise, and a commitment to excellence in emergency dispatch.

In April 2024, OnStar made history as the first and only private, non-911 entity to achieve Tri-ACE status.

Ruby Hilton, Assistant Manager of OnStar’s Emergency Quality and Analytics, highlights the work necessary to become a tri-ACE with the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch.

“Tri-ACE serves as a promise to OnStar callers that we will deliver the highest levels of care and professionalism, with a sense of urgency,” Hilton explains. “Reaching ACE in one discipline requires significant time, effort and resources, and we worked hard and are proud to have accomplished this across all three disciplines.”

This latest Medical ACE accreditation not only reflects OnStar’s dedication to upholding IAED standards but also highlights the company’s long-standing role as a trusted partner in emergency response. Chris Murdock, President of Priority Dispatch Corporation, affirms this point, noting:

“Achieving and maintaining accreditation is a testament to OnStar’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in emergency response. This milestone underscores the dedication of OnStar’s team to uphold the highest standards in public safety.”

To celebrate its achievements, OnStar will be recognized at the U.S. NAVIGATOR Conference in April 2025 in Orlando, Florida, where leaders in emergency dispatch gather to honor excellence and innovation in the field.
